Perception is one of our mental faculties and the definition of it that I like the most is “an interpretation or impression based on one’s understanding of something”. We gain understanding by continuing to study what’s going on around us and within us throughout our life. Studying doesn’t end when we leave school or college; for most of us it only just begins. Our interpretation of the events and circumstances in our life is based on all the knowledge we have gathered up until that point. As a result, it is important to understand that our perception of things will always be limited by what we know at the time, and that we should always keep an open mind. There are so many ways to view the world and our own is just one, limited view.

For example, most of us perceive peace as an absence of war. But this is a limiting view of what peace really is. Peace is first of all a state of mind. As Wayne Dyer said, “You get world peace through inner peace. If you’ve got a world of people who have inner peace, then you have a peaceful world”. When each of us takes the time to find the peace within us, it will be impossible for us to create drama or war outside of us. To help you move into a peaceful state, you have to hold a vision of peace on the screen of your mind. What does peace mean for you? If you think life would be boring without all the drama, think again. It’s when you are in a peaceful state that you in fact become a highly creative being. Start imagining what a peaceful world would look like, and with your thoughts and vision help bring it about.

When you change your perception, everything changes.
